Every organization has its goals, from which they define what is and isn't in their interest. Religions organizations want to suppress information that debunks their claims. Companies want to suppress information that harms their product image and reputation. Political groups want to suppress internal scandals. Nations want to suppress information that makes their geopolitical engagements look bad.
Everywhere you look, there is motive to warp the truth. Hence, a healthy amount of skepticism is warranted for all truth claims. But skepticism must be reined in by a recognition of countervailing epistemological forces that produce reliable truth. Institutions with the right incentives in place (healthy scientific institutions) are sources of reliable truth claims that can be substantiated in objective ways, repeatedly by any interested observer. One shouldn't be so skeptical that their brain falls out - yes, I'm talking about you, flat earthers.
