"I'm not an atheist anymore, because I don't look at the world that way anymore. I'm not a materialist anymore. I don't think the world is made out of matter, it is made out of what matters. It's made out of meaning." - JP
In my opinion, it is very obvious to me that JP is just a nuanced Christian. He makes his metaphysics clear in the following quote:
"I believe the biological case and I believe the biologically reductive case. But I don't think that exhausts it. There's a metaphysical layer underneath that that the biology is a genuine reflection of. And that's the macrocosm above and the microcosm below." - JP (Jordan Peterson Defines God | TranscendentPhilosop)
He seems to believe that there is a metaphysical (magical) reality of God. He thinks that the naturalistic biological evolution of values that form into a metaphorical fictional God is a reflection of a deeper reality of a true and real God.
He wouldn't work so hard to defend religion if he wasn't a believer.
Like, why would an atheist rather die than delete a tweet about how a Elliot Page is basically a horrible person for getting her breasts removed... the level of martyrdom in his soul is Christian... the level of bigotry in his soul is Christian... there are many many instances of him exposing his Christian biases, and I believe he openly admits to being an open believer after he recovered from his benzos, and in his more recent interview with John Vervaeke (LINK), he interrupts John every 30 seconds with a completely unnecessary religious quip aimed at emphasizing the importance of God...
In his interview with Milo Yiannopoulos (@15:18 , @39:30 , @1:05:20 , @1:25:42), JP tries to interrogate Milo on the reason Milo became gay. An atheist wouldn't do this. An atheist would just grant that it was most likely genetic, and wouldn't really care. Only a Christian would be suspicious that there was some Satan inspired sin or abuse that planted the seed for the development of unnatural homosexuality. JP constantly prods Milo, even against Milo's will, to admit to the fact that the sexual abuse he suffered as a teen was what caused his gayness. Only when Milo finally admits that it is a possible that the abuse triggered his homosexuality did Jordan Peterson finally drop the topic (@1:27:00). It is almost as if Jordan is desperately and stubbornly trying to validate his hypothesis that homosexuality is not natural and only comes about through sin, and when he finally gets the answer he wants, his confirmation bias is satisfied. The other frustrating aspects about this discussion were how JP's line of questioning seemed aimed at confirming anti-homosexual stereotypes, like it's pedophilic nature, it's predatory nature, it's illicit nature, it's lustful nature, and all of the conspiracies to cover up child abuse. There is no positive messaging about homosexuality at all.
